If you can’t tell when it was completed, there is no way to promise wrap it and await. Having dug through the Zotero source code, their openWindow method doesn’t return a window handle, which means I couldn’t tell when that window was completed by the user. While rewriting most of the logic and adding async/await into the fetch and parse operations was fast and straight forward, the pesky problem was what to do about that recaptcha window.
